Hairy Curtain Crust fungus – forty years ago in my nature notebooks
There’s a Hairy Curtain Crust fungus on this fallen wood:

That’s not the name I knew it by as a child. Back in 1976 I called it Stereum hirsutum. Here it is in my childhood nature notebooks:

I love the way I wrote ‘woolly underneath’ twice. It definitely deserves its new name.
