The Little Grebe and the little fish
There’s a Little Grebe in The Regent’s Park in London:

It has a family. Here it is with one of its chicks:

The chicks are very entertaining to watch. Their entire focus in life is begging for food from their parents and they are almost oblivious to anything else, including potential threats:
The adult dives and comes up with a fish, grasped firmly behind the head:

I can see the fish gasping its last. It doesn’t look too impressed:

I watch as the adult propels itself towards the nearest chick. It hands the hard-won fish over very carefully:

And just like a child, all the chick does is play with its food:
