For the love of Rhubarb

For the love of Rhubarb

It’s time for a cycle trip to the Westray shops – all three of them – to see what rhubarb treats they have in store. I have to cycle past clumps of rhubarb growing wild by the side of the road to get there. I’m expecting that they will have tinned rhubarb, maybe in light syrup. I’m expecting that there might be rhubarb pie-filling in a can. I’m even expecting that there will be rhubarb yoghurt, maybe Rachel’s organic or a four pack of Danone Activia. Nothing, however, prepares me for finding new rhubarb juice in the fridge.
Well, if someone in marketing can make a global business out of the utterly inedible cranberry there’s hope for humble rhubarb yet.
