Footprints

I love the mixture of sand on the beaches of Westray. Some are shell sand from the crushed shells of the molluscs which frequent the shores here and some are mineral sand from the weathered rocks of the coast. Some are a mixture. Some are fine silt, some are muddy, some are grainy, some are rocky and some are simply boulders and bare rocks.

This one is a fine mixture and shows the imprint of a bird’s feet.

It’ll soon be washed away.
