A curious Wheatear

I sometimes wonder why Wheatears are so difficult to get close to. Then I remember that we have killed and eaten every Wheatear which allowed us to.

Here’s the story of how 1,200 Wheatears were killed in one day on one farm:

I think we can forgive the remnants of their population for being a little wary.

The answer to every question about biology which begins with the word “Why” is that the ones like that survived to have more children which survived.

It’s selection, naturally.

Having said that, is it really the reason I have eyebrows like this Wheatear?
