Playful

If teenagers did this, would it be called play? Two young Black-Headed Gulls are playing chase with a piece of vegetation. It’s a pursuit, involving the pursued dropping the vegetation and it being caught by the pursuer.

I wonder when pair bonds form between Black Headed Gulls and whether their courtship behaviour features similar displays? Every time I see some interesting behaviour in the natural world I need to read several books and scientific papers. It would be a full-time job researching all the behaviour I see.

If only.
