Moult
I’m fascinated to see this Herring Gull going through a moult into adult plumage.

That beautiful, familiar, battleship grey is appearing out of the juvenile camouflage brown in a distinctive pattern. I must check which feathers normally emerge first and whether it’s always the same pattern for every moult.
There are natural patterns everywhere.
