Spatola

The Eurasian Spoonbill, Platalea leucorodia, is called La spatola in Italian. Italians clearly think it’s a spatula and not a spoon.

The adults have a fabulous crest, just like this one.

I’m slightly obsessed with them, so it was good to finally see one at sunset at Lago di Alviano.
