A sparkle of Golden Plovers
The traditional name for a flock of Golden Plovers is congregation. The doesn’t seem very apt to me, since it’s me who is worshipping them. I’ll stick with a sparkle.
There’s a flock of 300 or so of them at RSPB Lodmoor. I don’t know exactly how many, because I didn’t count them and relied upon someone else to do all the hard work. They don’t appear to have been very exact in their counting, so I have to say ‘or so’.
Have you noticed the interloper amongst them?

They’ve been hijacked by a Lapwing.
They’re beautiful birds. I’ve been unable to get close to them before, but this time I get a fly-past:

They’re sparkling.
