A harrying Marsh Harrier

Having a day out to walk around, surrounded by nature, is a wonderful thing. It’s even better if there’s a natural spectacle. Here’s a Marsh Harrier over the reed beds, stopping every few seconds to survey the water for potential prey. I took many photos, but I particularly like this one, with the houses behind, to show how close we live to incredible natural spectacles. We just have to get out to witness them.

As I walked back to my van, I turned to look at the fading light and saw a flock of Golden Plover, usually disturbed by their own shadows, this time with the Marsh Harrier flying across them.

It was a great way to finish a day.
