The Great Northern Diver and the crab
Great Northern Divers are sleek and handsome characters. There are many around the coast of South Devon at the moment. This one was in Brixham harbour, feasting on crabs.

I’m trying to get some shots of it eating. I need a combination of a successful hunt, bright enough light from the right angle and close enough views. On this occasion, it wasn’t quite there. Lovely to see the crab trying to escape, though.

And then clinging on, when I really think that a ‘letting-go’ strategy would have been more advantageous.

Delicious.
