Supplementing their diet
Great Crested Grebes eat fish. Here’s a shot from the weekend showing just that:
What I didn’t know is that they supplement their fishy diet with dragonfly nymphs. Here’s one after a successful dive with a nymph still waving its legs in annoyance:

They need all the nutrition they can get to keep their plumage and crests so spectacular:
