Prunella modularis

I recommend looking. Seeing the ordinary and realising it’s extraordinary is a habit which can bring you much joy. This Dunnock is vitally, fabulously alive and living the life of a survivor of an unbroken chain of evolution stretching back three and a half billion years. That I’m here to witness it is beyond boggling

The scientific name of the Dunnock is Prunella modularis. Prunella means brown, just like dun does. Modularis means singing (or modulating). It’s brown and singing. Perfect.
