The phases of Sparrowhawk flight
A Sparrowhawk has just flown over my shoulder. There are seven Hooded Crows in hot pursuit. It heads into the large pine tree and the tree explodes as a cloud of Starlings erupt in a noisy panic and a very loud group of Monk Parakeets object strenuously to the intrusion. I wonder which South American predator the Monk Parakeets have evolved to react to.

It looks like a large adult female, although I always stand to be corrected by those with greater knowledge. It’s a little distant so back at the flat I put together a composite of four shots showing the wing position as it flies. It was a lovely mover.
