Two thirsty Swallows make it Summer in Spring
It’s clearly thirsty work flying from Africa to the UK.
I pop into the Devon Wildlife Trust Reserve at Bovey Heathfield for a brief visit and there are two Swallows hurtling over the rough heathland. I sit next to one of the small pools and track them. They make a couple of passes to drink. I don’t get the moment they touch the water, but nearly:
I wonder where they are heading? Could they even be on the way up to Orkney to nest in one of my outhouses?
I like to think that they might.
And I like to think I might be able to follow them soon.
