I don’t know why, but I’ve never got close to a Collared Dove. Not in Devon, not in Italy, not in Orkney. I’ve never got a photograph I’m happy with, because I’ve never been close enough. Walking out of my house I see one on my neighbour’s bird feeder. Naturally I’m carrying my camera with telephoto lens. After all, if I didn’t carry it everywhere, how would I get the shots I take?

That’ll do for now. I’ll let it get on with stuffing its face. Hopefully I won’t have any explaining to do to my neighbour. Most people know what to expect from me now.
