Shaggy Parasols at Emsworthy Mire

There are Parasol mushrooms in the fields at Emsworthy Mire. They are huge, but not as huge as the dinner-plate sized Macrolepiota procera, the Parasol mushroom. They also have fuzzy caps.

I suspect they might be Shaggy Parasols, Chlorophyllum rhacodes.

This photo shows how they get the darker patches on their caps as the cap expands quickly:

They look so much like huge nipples to me.

I love the droplets glinting on their caps in this low sunshine.

I take two healthy specimens home

They cause gastric upsets in 1 in 25 people.

I hope I’ll still be a healthy specimen after this.
