Stonechat

I’ve seen Stonechats in Devon. They’re a bird I didn’t see as a child so they always appear exotic to me.

It’s a thrill to see them and particularly when I can get close as I’m camouflaged and they’re busy.

It’s more difficult to see them close in this park in Rome. I’m not camouflaged, there’s nowhere to hide, and they are very wary. I’m still pleased with the shot though:

This year I must finally get a shot of one on top of the Gorse in flower on Trendlebere Down. It’s the classic shot, just like the Goldfinch on Teasel or the Puffin with fish. It’s just got to be done.
