It’s Chile on the dunes

A visit to Dawlish Warren, not for a kiss-me-quick hat or a round of adventure golf, but for the wildlife of the Warren. Here’s a beautiful flower of the Fragrant Evening Primrose. I always thought that it was a rare native species but it’s actually an escaped garden plant originally from Chile and first cultivated in the UK in 1790.

It’s still beautiful, even if it has just escaped from a garden.
