Martin the fisherman
I’m in Italy on the trail of some interesting birds. The signs are good, literally, as there’s a big three-dimensional sign with Martin Pescatore on it – the Italian for Kingfisher. Because I’m English I’m amazed that it hasn’t been vandalised.
We’re in luck and we spot one in the reeds. I’m there with a huge telephoto lens on my camera next to a young Italian boy with a compact camera. I look at my photographs on the screen on the back of my camera and the Kingfisher is tiny because it’s so far away. I glimpse up at the young boy’s camera and the Kingfisher is filling the screen.
Here’s as much detail as I can get.
They say that your first 10,000 photographs are your worst. I hope this doesn’t apply to Kingfishers.
