Mute Swans – forty years ago in my nature notebooks

I was 13 years old when I saw a Mute Swan from the train. How do I remember that I was on the train? Well, my nature notebooks say I saw it in Crewe, so I must have been on the train.

I obviously couldn’t think of much to say about the experience. Here’s my entry from 13 August 1977.

You could say I was mute.

Today I’m in Devon and here are a couple of Mute Swans.
