A Different View of St Magnus Cathedral
I’ve seen so many beautiful photographs of St Magnus Cathedral. There are photographs of it in brilliant sunshine, photographs in snow, photographs with wide-angle and fish-eye lenses and photographs using vastly expensive architectural tilt-shift lenses or having had lots of editing done on them in Photoshop.
We only have a few moments, as a decent coffee is calling us from Trenabie’s Bistro and we can’t resist its siren song. I take a few iPhone shots of St Magnus Cathedral looking a little different from the others I have seen.
Somehow they emphasise how permanent it is and how impermanent life is, which is just what I wanted to convey, and probably just the story the architects and master craftsmen who built it had in mind many, many centuries ago.
