Tuesday night in Westray and the only gig in town is a packed house with every available seat taken, children on laps and fold-up chairs added to the aisle. It’s the second night at Michael and Teenie Harcus’s Byre.

We were treated to ‘100,000 Welcomes’, waltzes, duets, polkas and a rousing ‘Scotland the Brave’. Michael, Teenie, Matthew and Shelagh were in fine voice and Matthew’s version of ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ had people asking me who did the song and saying how wonderful the voices were. A great night. And whoever made the scones; nice one.
