Talkative Acorn-Eater
The scientific name of the Jay is Garrulus glandarius. It means ‘Talkative Acorn-Eater’.
This one is certainly garrulous (excessively talkative, especially on trivial matters):

Jays have a prominent malar stripe. In some birds, like Peregrine Falcons, the theory is that having a malar stripe reduces glare. That’s unlikely to be the case with Jays.
The stripe looks like it’s a distinguishing feature to aid identification. With such a strong contrast, a Jay can spot another Jay, even from quite a distance. It also looks like it’s an extension of their strong black bill.

This one was a little soggy in the sleet.
