A shake in turquoise

There’s a Great Northern Diver in Brixham harbour.

It’s been floating and preening for a while now and I’ve been waiting for it to appear with the turquoise reflection of a boat as its background. It’s something I do quite frequently for my photographs – I ignore the subject almost completely and select the background and composition I want and then wait for the subject to arrive in it. Sometimes it works. Often, it’s a complete waste of time and effort.

Now it’s time for it to have a good shake to remove all the excess water trapped in its feathers. I love all the feather and spray detail. Do feel free to click on all my images if you would like to see a larger version. Thanks!
