Fat Puffling with fish incoming

How fat must this Puffin’s Puffling be? We’ve been sitting half way down a cliff for the past three hours and a parent bird has brought five full beak-fulls of sand eels into the nest hidden in the rocks.

It’s been a little wet, and the light’s grey and dull, but it’s a wonderful opportunity to practise my landing shots. I think this is probably my favourite so far:

The water dripping off it, as it pitches its landing, is great.

It’s lovely to see such natural behaviour and a relief that we’re not disturbing them in the slightest.

What a privilege to witness.

Time for hot tea and cold sandwiches half-way down this cliff. Luxury.
