2021 highlights of a wilder Devon life – part 2

Much of the nature I’ve enjoyed in Devon this year has been close to home. It’s been a short walk or cycle ride away. Having an electric bike has flattened the topography as far as effort uphill is concerned. One local park brought me great joy as I walked to check the Dippers on the River Lemon.

Blue Tits and blossom are such an awesome combination.

The River Lemon let me in to her secrets as I found a Kingfisher’s nest as well as a Dipper’s nest:

I did manage to get further afield to see the Cuckoos at Emsworthy Mire again:

Emsworthy Mire is a wonderful place during Bluebell season, especially when there are Common Redstarts, even if Bluebells are actually purple and Redstarts are orange:

It’s a pleasure to see Buzzards on Dartmoor, too:

A summer visit to Yarner Wood meant a few hours standing behind a tree in total camouflage enjoying the company of Pied Flycatchers:

Ducklings are always a joy. Here’s a Mallard duckling. Just don’t look at its reflection or it might creep you out.

I told you not to look.
