Return to Daisy Nook

In a time before the lockdown I visited Daisy Nook Country Park. It’s in Failsworth, which is a great place to have the local Driving Test Centre. It’s 40 acres of varied dog-walking space. In an hour, here are the species I found:

European Nuthatch, Sitta europaea:

Across the canal (and too far away to photograph properly without getting wet) was a lively flock of Song Thrushes, Turdus philomelos:

My favourite, the European Robin, Erithacus rubecula, put in an appearance:

There was even a Long-Tailed Bushtit, Aegithalos caudatus:

There was one of the three and a half million Eastern Gray Squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis which have colonised the UK:

A very, very bright Blue Tit, Cyanistes caeruleus:

There are catkins galore along the canal:

And the Mute Swan, Cygnus olor, cruises by as I head back to the car:

With a final goodbye from a Robin. Don’t you just want to give him a decent dinner?
