Starlings

There’s a young Starling, with a fluffy brown head, trying to negotiate the wind on Westray.

It’s heading for my chimney pot. It’s the perfect vantage point to see all potential predators and all its compatriots.

This adult, however, is an experienced wind-warrior and flies like a thing possessed.

I suspect the youngster will soon be behaving just like this.
