The Lesser Yellowlegs and the Snipe

I love this photograph. The light is poor. The colours are dull. The composition’s nothing special. It’s the poise of the little Lesser Yellowlegs which gets me every time. I can’t help but see its characteristics in human terms. It looks so young, so innocent and so interested in everything around it.

The contrast with the blundering Snipe, carrying on unaware in the background, is a sweet one.

Be the Lesser Yellowlegs.
