Starlings and the Cormorant Tree

There’s a Cormorant coming in fast and low. The sun is setting and it’s time to roost at the Lago di Chiusi:

They are all heading for the same tree on the water’s edge:

We’re strolling in the evening air, admiring the Cormorants and I’m just considering counting them, when a Starling murmuration arrives in the sky like crazy smoke:

They fly over the Cormorant tree in a great arc:

And I forget all about counting Cormorants.
