The Orkney Museum

I love the Orkney Museum in the centre of Kirkwall, opposite St Magnus Cathedral.

One of the mind-blowing exhibits is a carved stone made by Orkney people during the Pictish period from AD 300 to 800. There are several Pictish ‘symbol stones’ in the Museum, but my favourite shows an Eagle as well as a crescent and a mirror. Here’s a new carving which represents it beautifully:
