Dacrymyces deliquescens – forty years ago in my nature notebooks

Forty years ago I was excited to see every mushroom or fungus I could find. Even something as plain as Dacrymyces deliquescens was a thrill to me, probably because I managed to master how to say its name. Here’s my nature notebook entry from forty years ago:

There are probably quite a few small round orange fungi which grow on wood, but I’d be happy if a detailed microscopical and genetic analysis of this one says it’s Dacrymyces deliquescens:
