Rock Pipits on breakwater beach

This is the view from Brixham’s Breakwater Beach on a pleasant day.

There’s the insistent calling and elegant undulating flight of two Rock Pipits along the shoreline:

I’ve decided to lie down on the deeply uncomfortable pebbles and wait for them to approach as they work the shore up and down.

I’ve got the sun to my back, I’m not moving and I’m waiting. It doesn’t take long to gain their confidence.

They’re not going to let me interfere with their foraging:

This one is covered in dark black oil.

I worry for it.
