Uncommon Common Gulls

There’s a young Common Gull, Larus canus, flying past. They are very elegant fliers:

Just as we have done for much of our wildlife, we have transformed their lives. Their usual diet is worms, insects, fish and carrion, but a large proportion of their diet is now human rubbish.

This one, however, is having the benefit of a Westray adolescence, with a healthy natural diet. There’s nothing but the finest fish and carrion for them here.
