Devil’s Snuffbox

There are Puffballs in the woods. It’s that time of year. These look like the Common Puffball, Lycoperdon perlatum. They are covered in loose pointy projections, often referred to as warts.

I think they are incredibly beautiful, here, by the path to the nature reserve.

When I walk back, someone has kicked them and stamped on them.
