Redshanks at the Peedie Sea

It’s only a few minutes after dawn and there’s a Redshank on the Peedie Sea. I can’t quite believe it’s being quiet. Redshanks are always the first to spot people and set flight with a persistent and annoying call. This one knows I’m here but really doesn’t want to move.

Perhaps it’s because it’s too early to start flying around the place and shouting?

Maybe not. There it goes.

I like the neat way they hold their feet and their striped tails.

Although I could do without that call.

I prefer my Redshanks quiet at this time in the morning.
