Airone Bianco Maggiore

Here’s the beautiful three-dimensional sign from a bird hide in Italy:

Airone Bianco Maggiore

It’s for the Great White Egret, which is a huge white heron. Airone Bianco Maggiore means Heron White Great. As usual it’s a round way different in Italian.

When one flies over it’s such a treat:

It’s a wonderful evolutionary compromise; that of having a long neck to catch fish and yet hugging its head close to its body to be aerodynamic in flight:

I could all them watch day.
