Birds, bees and butterflies on the river

I’m back on the banks of the River Tevere in Rome. It’s teeming with wildlife, despite the hard landscaping and high banks and walls. There’s a Black Redstart on the bank:

They are such endearing birds.

Along the river are the remains of a MoBike after the failure of their bike-sharing scheme. If we are to have a successful future in harmony with our environment then we need to embrace sharing of public luxury. We can’t have a world where everyone has their own gym, their own swimming pool and even their own car. We all need to be comfortable sharing public spaces, public assets and public luxuries. We’re not there yet:

The graffiti here is wonderful. I love this bee:

There’s another bike:

Here’s my experience of trying to use a MoBike in Rome:

It’s no surprise that the scheme has failed.

On the graffiti is a Wall Brown butterfly, Lasiommata megera on the colours of the Italian flag:

Further along is another bike and one of the many footballs I’ve seen come past:

And this creature? I may have to get my identification books out for this one:
