Carrion Crow portraits

The Regent’s Park is full of birds. It’s wiltingly hot and the Carrion Crows are sensibly in the shade. I’m hanging around, camera in hand, waiting for them to come out from under the trees. They don’t. They’re sensible and know that wearing black and being out in direct sunshine is a bad idea.

Then I see one come out and take a few portraits:

I’m fascinated see that they’re not truly black all over. They have brown and golden feathers as well, and their pink flesh shows through:

Birds evolved from Dinosaurs and neither had sweat glands. To lose heat birds have to pant:

In this heat, so do I.
