A Swallowtail butterfly striped like a zebra
There’s a swallowtail butterfly species I’ve never seen before fluttering around me. It’s too close to focus on. I move away and so does the butterfly. Looking like that it must be called the Zebra Swallowtail, I think:
I check its name when I get back and it’s Protographium marcellus, predictably, the Zebra Swallowtail.
“Its distinctive wing shape and long tails make it easy to identify, and its black-and-white-striped pattern is reminiscent of a zebra”
Hold on, long tails? Where are they?
I think something’s been nibbling this one.
