The Tail of the Turkey

Turkey Tail fungus, Trametes versicolor, is everywhere:

Here it is in Fungorum qui in Bavaria et Palatinatu circa Ratisbonam nascuntur icones, nativis coloribus expressae by Jacob Christian Schaeffer from 1762:

It’s a beautiful book. Christie’s sold a copy of the third edition for £9,560 in 2002.

Over 250 years later Turkey Tail is still unmistakable:
