Herring Gull

I’m photographing the beautiful, delicate and precise Black Headed Gulls this morning when I see this monster approaching. I’m so used to the friendly faces of the Black Headed Gulls that this Herring Gull appears monstrous, with demonic eyes and a hefty beak like some fantasy Warhammer weapon.

It comes closer sensing the opportunity for food.

But not quite close enough for me to to get clear photographs of the rings around its eyes.

Who needs fantasy when we are already surrounded by fabulous beasts?
