Wren on a chilly morning

There are millions of Wrens in the UK and yet they are so elusive. Today’s cold weather seems to have brought them out of the bushes and this one was basking a little in the low fog-covered sunshine.

I move slowly forwards and zoom in closer. It’s just like a ball of fluff on a tiny stick. That hot body with its rapidly beating heart needs lots of food to keep it alive.
