The bit in-between

Winter days on Westray are very much like the short flight between Westray and Papa Westray. The flight is the shortest scheduled flight in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records. No sooner have you taken off than you hear the flaps go down and it’s time for a landing. So it is with Westray’s winter days. No sooner have you had a sunrise than it’s suddenly time for a sunset. Both are short. Both are trapped between beginnings and endings. The bit in between though, the bit in between is exhilarating.
