Mud cracks, mud cracks everywhere!

Orkney is full of stone which shows fossilised wave patterns and mud cracks. Orkney’s geological history has been a complex one involving water and drought and water and drought. Here’s a rock with visible fossilised mud cracks made even more visible by the barnacles which are sheltering in the slightest of depressions.
