For the love of Limpets

All Limpets start life as neuters and develop into males at about a year old. When they get to between 4 to 7 years old about a third of them turn into females. What a crazy, crazy life.

This fat limpet at Rack Wick is just peeping its head out from beneath its foot. It’s waiting until October and a temperature under 11 degrees before it releases large amounts of white sperm or green eggs into the water, hoping that others will be doing the same in the same pool. What a party that will be.
