Einar and the Northern Lights

There’s a fluorescent green ring encircling the Earth tonight made by charged particles from a solar wind. As if the milky way and a clear view of the star cluster the Pleiades wasn’t enough, there’s an Aurora borealis. When I first go out into the garden it’s a clear arc like a rainbow. It appears white to my eye as it’s too dark for my colour vision to work. Only when I set my tripod up and take some photographs do I see the colours – mainly green with some purple. Briefly it shimmers like a curtain and dances in front of us.

It’s my first time taking night photographs and I’m not pleased with them. At least they’re an attempt to record a magical evening.
