On the edge

Just how close are these two 5,600 year old houses to being lost to the sea?

On the edge - photograph (c) David Bailey 2016

It was a thrill to fly over the island of Papa Westray and look at their archaeological treasures from a completely different angle. These 5,600 year old houses at the Knap of Howar, with their stone room dividers, stone beds and stone store cupboards really are on the edge.

See my post A 5,600 year old picnic venue for photographs of the inside. They really are exceptional.
