Lizza and Jenna at Hume Sweet Hume

One of the greatest surprises I had when visiting Westray for the first time eight years ago was finding out there was a thriving fashion business on the Island. How unlikely was that?

Hume Sweet Hume

Sisters Lizza and Jenna have built Hume Sweet Hume into a stunning enclave of craft work with clothing, accessories and textiles made with great joy and finesse.

I’ve always loved their back room workshop with the cones of wool, knitting machines and creative clutter. There’s also wonderful natural light.

They combine lambswool from the Scottish Borders and Mohair from Italy to make the most wonderful objects. Do check out their online shop or pay them a visit. They’re always so welcoming.
